We met like how most the gay do, on the apps—back when we were in college, swiping through profiles like hopeful detectives. I (Chris) popped up, and Mitch and I had a couple of dates, fun, flirty, with just enough awkward charm. But then, Chris dropped a bomb on Mitch: he was heading abroad for six months, volunteering and solo traveling. And much to Mitch's chagrin, the tall charming badger vanished.&lt;3Like all good star crossed lovers, life seemed to find a way at getting us back into each others lives. We both ended up in DC, and while dating other people, had a few run-ins, which always made us wonder 'what if?'. It was not until COVID that there was an opportunity to see it through where we were both single and back in Minneapolis. Our first date was a COVID-walk on the Stone Arch Bridge, and it was after that date, Chris knew he would win Mitch over, and that he did.&lt;3To Mitch’s family, Chris was the mysterious and elusive “med student”, and would take on nicknames 'the med-man', 'the med-mystery', eventually the Perry family nickname set as 'the meddler'. Chris finally won over Mitch's heart after a secret night at Mitch's cabin prior to his family joining where he brought a bouquet of flowers to be left for Mitch's family with a card signed “The Meddler".&lt;3Five years, countless trips, and many states later, San Francisco being our latest home, we knew we were always meant to be. We both secretly planned to propose on that same bridge as our first date. Funny enough, Chris went first, three days ahead, without knowing Mitch was going to do the same. And so, with all our family and friends cheering us on, the Meddler became the fiance and soon to be, husband!&lt;3*Pictured above: Mitch and Chris on a trip to Duluth a few months into dating*

Our goal was to make our wedding weekend convenient for those flying in out of state. Our events and hotel blocks are all within walking distant (or a very short drive from one another). While public transit is limited, we would encourage use of ride-share apps (Uber/Lyft) whenever needed. If given group size/accessibility you should need a car, the venue has free parking.

In the heart of downtown Minneapolis the Hewing offers a industrial-rustic aesthetic that incorporates Minnesota's cultural touches. The Hewing is a place near and dear to our heart as it was where we celebrated both match day and the evening after we got engaged. Equipped with a rooftop bar, hot tub, and beautiful views of the skyline it will keep you entertained. The Hewing is ~1 mile from the venue &amp; welcome ceremony making it an easy ride-share or walk away and it's just blocks from the best bars and restaurants Minnesota has to offer. This hotel is equipped with a classic supper club with beautiful views of the Mississippi river. Nicollet Island is not a three minute walk from the welcome party and across the street from the wedding venue, which offers a perfect space for those who don't wish to drive. And even so, there is a parking lot with free parking if you so chose. Parlour is the basement bar with our favorite burger in the city, does walk-ins. Borough, right above Parlour, also has the famous burger and a whole slew of delicious American food.

$$$<a href="https://www.spoonandstable.com/menu/dinner-menu/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Spoon &amp; Stable</a>: For our foodies out there, Spoon &amp; Stable is one of our favorite 'nice' restaurants. It includes all American food with a rotating menu (although the black squid spaghetti is always available and a favorite of ours). Would require reservation.

$<a href="Kramarczuk's Sausage Company" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kramarczuk's Sausage Company</a>: A traditional polish delish within walking distance of Nicollet Island Inn. Great spot for sandwiches and baked goods.

If you're looking for a couple mile loop you should use the stone arch bridge (where we got engaged!) and the Hennepin Ave bridge (spotted by the large grain belt sign) are crossing points. Relevant spots include Nicollet Island (where our venue is located), St. Anthony Main (brick road street with beautiful apartments) the <a href="https://www.guthrietheater.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Guthrie Theater</a> (our preforming arts center with large suspension bridge thats free to access to the public), and <a href="https://www.mnhs.org/millcity" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mill City Museum</a> (ruins of an old flour factor that is now a history museum).

<a href="https://www.walkerart.org/minneapolis-sculpture-garden/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Minneapolis Sculpture Garden</a>: Know famously for the giant spoon-and-cherry piece, the sculpture garden hosts a number of pieces from local artists, some you can climb on! Right next door is the Walker Contemporary Art Center which will keep you busy all day.

Otherwise come as you are, the themed is NOT enforced :)&lt;3Ceremony/Reception: We ask that you dress in semi-formal (women in dresses / men in suits of any color). Our wedding will be fall themed, photo below. This theme is not required, but encouraged if you have matching formal-wear.
